BbLearn / U of S Course Tools - Fundamentals Seminar

Description:

***Please contact the HELP DESK before class and request a development course if you do not have a course with which to add content.***

The U of S Course Tools uses Blackboard Learn , a web-based tool that provides the instructor the freedom to focus on teaching and learning techniques. This productivity tool can be used in all courses, from supplementing existing face-to-face classes to delivering completely on-line distance classes. It is easy for novice instructors to learn and use, yet powerful enough to handle the most advanced teaching needs.

With Blackboard Learn, instructors can quickly and easily:

  • distribute class material to students including locally developed files (powerpoints, sound clips) or web-based resources (youtube videos, flickr images).
  • communicate with students, through email or class announcements.
  • set up learning communities through student group work, discussions, blogs, wikis and chat rooms, so students can interact with, and learn from, each other.
  • evaluate students through online quizzes, assignments, wikis, and discussions.
  • support students on the go, with access from mobile devices and email notifications of changes in the course.
  • simplify administrative tasks like grading, distributing grades to students, or identifying students who are having problems in the class early so they can get help.

This seminar will lead you through the U of S Course Tools, showing you where to find items like announcements, adding files, creating links, emailing students, posting images and creating of hand-in folders.

Additional help is available online using the complete Instructor Guide
